The Job You Save May Be Your Own...Don't Buy That Chinese Junk!

My latest form of exercise is to "mall walk", climate controlled, food court, rest room and if I get real tired I just go to the department store and nap in a recliner. So on a recent mall walk I went by a store named "America's Kids" expecting to find American made clothing. On display they had a cool jacket for a child I thought would look good on my 3 year old nephew, so in I went to look at the jacket...
and the first thing I notice is the label, Made in China. I look at another style Made in China, and another and another and another.... I looked at 22 different items, some boys some girls some older kids some younger, not one item I looked at was Made in America. The tally is:1 Pakistan,1 Viet Nam,2 India,2 Indonesia, and 16 China. So why did they not name the store "China's Kids" that may be who made most of the stuff. Needless to say I was pissed. And you must know the picture is much worse than what you see here.

According to the US Department of Commerce: in 2010 the USA IMPORTED from China 364.9 Billion dollars worth of goods.....in 2010 the USA EXPORTED to China 91.9 Billion in product.

in 2008 the USA had a trade imbalance of 690 billion with the rest of the world. What this means is, we exported 1.83 trillion in goods and imported 2.52 trillion in goods. IF 10% of the 690 billion trade imbalance is labor cost, and we spent that 10% on labor in the USA we would be able to employ in the neighborhood of 1.4 million people @ 50,000.00 each per year.

I worked for a major US auto maker from 1997 up until 2008. Since 1994 every new car I purchased has been and  still is American made. I understand people have the right to choose as they please and when someone showed up to work in a new foreign car I thought this is like "cutting off your nose to spite your face" and using "a double edge sword" to do the cutting then "biting the hand that feeds you"! Had enough cliches?

Buying American made products is not that difficult. If you are reading this blog you have all the tools you need to shop America. If you like having the freedoms Americans have, pass the word to your friends and family. Stop buying that Chinese junk at whatever discount store you shop. WE all need to do our part to save our country.

How about quality... if you have ever done a side by side comparison it is very clear that USA makes products of higher quality. Yes the Chinese junk may be a buck or two cheaper but without doubt you will be replacing that Chinese junk very soon and there goes your 1.66 cents savings. Don't forget, China is a communist government and they support another communist nation(North Korea) so along with your 1.66 cents savings you may be indirectly supporting the next nuclear war!

The Pay Off!


I try, I try really hard to buy American. I spend more time running from store to store just looking for American made products than it takes to ... Can't help it. I feel its my way to support Americans, and if everyone did the same it may just send a signal to the big box stores that we want American made products. The Chinese junk they sell is yet a story for another day.


In 2010 I was upgrading my kitchen and made the rounds to all the home improvement stores looking for a new kitchen faucet. While most companies are American owned not all of their products are made here. So I finally settled on a Moen faucet and the determining factor was it was "Made In America". 


The faucet I purchased had a filtering system built into it so I did not need to buy and install a separate piece. A few weeks ago the light started blinking telling me it was time to change the filter. So off to the store to buy a filter. I ended up having to order the filter from Moen because the big box junk stores no longer carried this item, nothing made in America to be found anywhere. I ordered the filters from  the manufacturer and received them in a couple days. 


While waiting for the filters I decided to finally install the water line to my automatic ice maker. In the process I broke the housing that holds the water filter! I am a klutz, and I broke it, it was not the fault of the faucet or filter. I called Moen again thinking it may be almost as expensive to buy a new faucet. I explained my problem to the young lady on the phone admitting I broke the part asking her how much to replace it and she replied "I'm sorry for the problem you are having and I would like to send you a new part at NO CHARGE". Truly I was amazed. Before I called Moen I went looking the part up on line and the cheapest I could find it for was $52 and that place said it was out of stock and everywhere else it was going to be closer to $70. 


Anyway...the point is we should all make an attempt, a serious attempt to buy American, perhaps the job I helped to save by buying American is reading this blog.

Who Are My Taxes Being Spent On?

This is not an easy question to answer. There are many factors involved that need to be examined, but today I am going to focus on one main reason for this situation. Illegal immigration is the correct and easy answer.

In some US cities and states illegal immigration is welcome. These places are called “sanctuary or safe” cities, meaning our government knows their city is full of illegals and allows them to stay. Furthermore, medicaid in these states forces hospitals to give free health care to illegal immigrants. So where do you think the money comes from to pay the bills for illegals, it comes out of the taxes we (legal Americans) pay. So if a large portion of our taxes are being spent to support illegals that do not pay taxes who is going to suffer, and again the answer is us (the legal taxpaying American.)

According to the web sight /www.ojjpac.org/sanctuary.asp there are over 160 cities that allow or are on the watch list for “sanctuary” status. I suggest you review this sight as there are over ten pages of information on illegal immigration information.

I do not want you to think I am anti-immigration as my family migrated to America roughly 100 years ago, I am however anti-illegal immigration. As far as I am concerned everyone is welcome here BUT you “gotta” do it legally and you must try to pull your own weight”. A way out of this dilemma is too have the rich pay their 22-30% tax rate like all of middle America but we know that day will never come and this is a topic for another day.

Again I am not anti-immigration, all of my friends and family are immigrants with the exception of my Native American friends. Please no hate mail(LOL). If everyone in America that is able to pay taxes did so, we would not be in debt to China or anyone else.

I have also read articles that try to make the phrase “politically correct” by calling illegal immigrants “undocumented aliens”, please lets not sprinkle some sugar on the cyanide and call it candy!

So the fact is, no one knows the actual cost of illegal immigration on the health care system as hospitals are not required to ask (another don’t ask don’t tell government policy). In Texas the state comptroller estimated in 2006 illegal immigration health care cost  Texas $1.3 billion. I fired up my calculator again to come up with a  conservative estimate for all of America and came up with a total of 44,000,000,000.00 (forty-four billion dollars). Any wonder why taxpayers are sick!          

Capital Punishment, Why Not?

I could never understand why the government allows murders, rapists & child abusers to remain alive and for the most part the majority of these criminals are living free among us! I just cannot see the grey in the capital punishment issue.


I was raised with some religion in my family and I do (to some extent) understand the sanctity of human life... but... save a murders life is outrageous. Lets be real for a minute, serial rapists, murders and child molesters will never be cured. Note I qualified this statement a bit. "Serial" (not Cheerios) criminals are lifelong members of that crime club. 


Government spend how much on them, legal fees, housing, food, clothing, health care and than endanger the life of every man and women hired to guard them. How much is spent on rehabilitation and chasing down parole violators. We cannot forget about repeat offenders now can we, what can be more heinous than a convicted child rapist set free only to destroy anther young life. So I want to know what is the payoff to keeping them alive? 


I'm unclear why the life of an innocent citizen is worth less than a criminals life. What do I mean by that remark, think, just think... government lets murders run free for whatever reason and I take that to mean the government and the bleeding hearts think the next lost innocent life must be worthless. 


I realize people with nothing better to do and catholic priests disagree with me. To them I say "get a job" and "hey Pope, stop hiring serial child molesters". I do not want to bring religion into this issue at this time but sometime in the future we will get into it. So again I ask "what is the payoff.


The criminals are winning, look around you, watch the news, open your ears, pay attention crime is rampid among us. According to the "California Nonpartisan Fiscal and Policy Advisor" the average cost to incarcerate an inmate for 1 year is $47,000.00 and according to the "NY Times" 04/23/2008 the US has 2.3 million incarcerated criminals, consider this... China (with over 4 times the population of the US) only has 1.6 million in prison. 


If my calculator is correct in the US the government spends 108,100,000,000.00 (one hundred eight billion one hundred million dollars) per year on criminals. Think about how many hungry kids could be fed or how many school teachers can be hired with just a fraction of that money.


If one of my readers disagree with my opinion all I could tell them is "I hope you feel the same way about preserving a criminal after one kills your mother, rapes your wife and has his way with your 6 year old daughter as the little girl is crying asking WHY DADDY"?      

Politically Correct My Ass!

I was watching a TV talk show the other night and one of the guests was a black comedian. Now you must know I am mostly  not a typical bigot, I hate ignorance. I have three best friends and two are black. So back to the point, the host asked the comedian if he liked tennis and who his favorite player was. The black comedian replied the Williams sisters “because they are black”. He did not laugh after the remark it was a serious response. So I started to wonder what would happen if a white comedian said “I like Larry Bird because he is a white basketball player”. I’m guessing all the blacks would erupt into a frenzy and all the white sympathizers would protest. So I wrote a letter to the TV host and complained of that remark and to date I still have had no reply. This is the message I sent:

On last nights show a black guest made a comment I found ignorant, Jimmy asked J.B. Smoove who his favorite tennis player was his reply was "the williams sisters BECAUSE they are black". Tell me if a white star said I like McEnroe BECAUSE he is white would that even make the air? I would never say I like Jordan because he is *blank*, I like Jordan because he is a great player. What makes it OK for a black star to be politically incorrect but that same remark makes a white star a bigot?

So far no response from the show and if they ever do I'll let you in on the reply.

Child Rape Enabler Dies! Burn in Hell Joe.

 Dead at Last!

Americans never cease to amaze me, seriously. Example: Joe Paterno, in a television network interview states he was sorry he did not do more. He was at a point able to stop any further child rape but for the sake of a GAME he did nothing to stop it. He allowed human life to be DESTROYED for a GAME. What makes this event more atrocious is thousands of people still adore him. What he achieved in the past is a single grain of salt floating in an ocean of salt water. Its meaningless. How does he get hero status. 


Zach Galifianakis publicly refuses to work with Mel Gibson because he used the N word. He did not use the word to berate a person but in the heat of the moment in an argument trying to make a point... however Zach happily  worked with a convicted rapist, Tyson. Millions of Americans love Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist and at least an equal amount hate Gibson. So from this I take it to mean “rape is politically correct” but saying the N word  makes you hated world wide. All very confusing to me.

Another example you ask, well how about X governor Rod Blagojevich, after his first trial, and after he was convicted of a federal offense he starts his rise to martyr dumdum. NBC tries to put him on the map on a reality game show, Every talk show coast to coast is seeking him out and hardly a one confronts his clearly criminal antics. He is allowed to lie on national TV day after day week after week as a defense and still hundreds of American people are rallying in support of a convicted criminal. So again a crime involving “sticking it to someone” does pay? See a pattern here?

So do you think God is going to say to Paterno “Joe, you will go down in history as the greatest coach of any GAME, to heck with the innocent human children who’s life I created, come sit with me high in heaven”. NOT!!
